How does age verification work?
If you proceed to complete your order after you have placed a specific item in your basket, you will see a button with the text "Verify my age". When you click on this button, you will be presented with a new secure browser window where you can choose how to verify your age of majority with an identity document, an ID card or a driving licence issued in the European Union. When purchasing from a mobile phone, simply take a picture of this ID and wait a few seconds for the system to verify your age.
If you are shopping from a computer, you can upload a photo of your ID directly from your PC, or send the verification to your smartphone, which you can conveniently take a photo of the document. When taking a picture of the document, do not use a flash, which can cause glare and illegibility of the text on the document. If the age verification is successful, one click will take you back to the shopping cart to complete your purchase.
Age verification remembers you
The result of the age verification is stored by the system in an anonymised form thanks to a unique HASH string created from the email and phone number you entered in the online shop order. This way, you do not have to verify your age again when you place your next order. Instead, a verification code will be sent to the phone number or email provided in your order. You will then enter this code at the age verification prompt, and once it is verified as correct, you simply return to the cart to complete your purchase.
Security and data protection
The age verification system does not store any data except for the date of birth. When verifying with an identity document, this document is not stored anywhere and is only used for real-time identification. The system does not share your age information with the online shop where you shop. It only confirms whether or not you are over 18 years of age. In the case of repeated verification with proof of identity, the system registers your phone number so that a verification SMS can be sent to it. This way, you do not have to send your documents to unsecured emails or provide them to online shop operators.
